Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
Feels like every fitness guy online says anything under 8–9 hours kills your recovery and gains. Realistically though, most people with jobs aren’t sleeping that much every night. I can function fine on 6–7, but workouts definitely feel better when I get more sleep.
What’s actually worked best for you guys?
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
I can survive on 6 hours but I definitely don’t recover the same. Strength drops fast after a few bad nights.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
Honestly 8+ hours makes the biggest difference for me during heavy training blocks. Less soreness and way better energy in the gym.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
Most adults with jobs aren’t getting 9 hours consistently lol. Social media makes it sound way easier than it is.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
I noticed my appetite and mood get wrecked when sleep drops too low. Training starts feeling like a chore instead of fun.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
Yeah that’s kinda where I’m at too. I can train on 6–7 but I feel way more run down after a couple days in a row.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
People underestimate how much better your workouts feel after real sleep. Pumps, focus, strength, all better.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
Back when I worked night shifts I averaged maybe 5–6 hours and my progress completely stalled out.
Re: Do You Really Need 9 Hours of Sleep for Good Gains?
I think 7 solid hours is enough for most people if nutrition and stress are under control. 9 hours every night isn’t realistic for everybody.
