Been doing cold showers post workout. I feel sharper, but idk if it’s placebo. Anyone notice real recovery gains or just hype?
I think the mental side is the biggest benefit honestly. Wakes me up fast and puts me in a better mood, but I wouldn’t say my physique magically changed from cold showers lol.
Post workout cold exposure can actually reduce inflammation a bit, but some people say doing it immediately after lifting might slightly blunt muscle growth adaptations. That’s why I stopped doing ice baths after leg day.
The “mental toughness cosplay” line killed me
but honestly forcing yourself into freezing water at 6am definitely builds some discipline.
Yeah that’s kinda where I’m at. I definitely feel more alert after, especially mentally, but wasn’t sure if I was convincing myself it’s helping recovery more than it actually is.
I noticed better recovery mostly during hard cuts when fatigue was high. During a bulk? Didn’t really care for it.
Cold showers feel amazing in summer after a nasty workout. In winter though? Absolutely not. I’m not trying to roleplay as David Goggins before work
Honestly sleep and food move recovery way more than cold showers ever will. People love chasing recovery hacks before fixing the basics.
That’s probably true honestly. Easy to get caught up in all the optimization stuff online while the real issue is probably just getting better sleep and recovering properly.
I treat cold showers more like a mood/energy tool than a muscle-building tool. Makes me feel less sluggish and more locked in for the day, which is still useful tbh.
