HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
Trying to decide what’s more effective long term. HIIT leaves me dead but seems efficient. Steady state feels boring but sustainable. What’s your move?
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
If you’re lifting heavy consistently, HIIT can wreck your recovery fast bro. I used to go all out sprints and then wonder why my leg days sucked. Now I keep it mostly steady state and feel way better.
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
HIIT is cool if you’re short on time, but it’s not magic. People act like 10 mins of suffering replaces everything. Long term, steady state is just easier to stick with.
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
I run both tbh. 2–3 low intensity sessions for recovery + heart health, and maybe 1 HIIT day when I’m feeling spicy. Best of both worlds.
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
Depends on your goal. If you’re cutting and wanna burn calories quick, HIIT hits hard. But if you’re trying to keep strength and not feel smoked all week, steady state all day.

Lowkey walking on incline treadmill is underrated af. Easy, doesn’t kill your CNS and you can do it almost daily without it messing your lifts.
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
HIIT feels productive because it hurts 😂 doesn’t always mean it’s better tho. Consistency beats intensity long term, especially if you’re trying to grow and recover.
Re: HIIT vs Steady State for Athletes Who Lift
Yeah makes sense… I think I’ve been overdoing HIIT and wondering why I’m always drained. Might switch to mostly steady state and keep HIIT once a week.
