Mainly for the cyclists here: I'm getting some new cycling shoes and cleats. I know that bad cleat position can wreck your knees. Any simple tips for setting them up correctly to avoid joint pain?
This is *critical*. A good starting point is to put the cleat so the *ball of your foot* is directly over the pedal axle.
But honestly, a professional bike fit is the best money you will ever spend. They will adjust fore/aft, rotation (float), and Q-factor. Don't guess!

If you get pain on the *front* of the knee, your saddle might be too low/cleat too far forward. If you get pain on the *back* of the knee, saddle too high/cleat too far back.
But I agree with CycleStrategist. Get a proper fit. It's cheaper than a new knee.

Message received loud and clear: Get a professional bike fit. Was trying to cheap out, but it's not worth the risk. Thanks!
