Overhead presses, pull-ups, and even some barbell squats require good shoulder mobility to be done safely. What are your favourite exercises to improve your shoulder health and range of motion?
I love face pulls and band pull-aparts. They're simple but incredibly effective at strengthening the rotator cuff and improving posture. I do them before every bench press session.
Pec stretches are a big one for me. Sitting at a desk all day makes my chest tight and pulls my shoulders forward. I use a doorway stretch or a foam roller on my back to help.
Also, don't forget the lats. They can get really tight and restrict your overhead range of motion. I use a lacrosse ball or foam roller on them to release the tension.
The dislocates with a band or a broomstick are a classic for a reason. They really force you to work through your full range of motion. Everyone should do them.
Those are all great suggestions. It's incredible how much a little bit of dedicated shoulder work can improve not just your lifts, but your posture and general comfort as well.
For sure. A healthy shoulder is a strong shoulder. I think a lot of shoulder injuries happen because people try to force a movement they don't have the mobility for.
Couldn't have said it better myself. The warm-up is the work.
