Ever have days where your body is ready to move weight, but your head just isn’t in it?
Sometimes the grind outside the gym hits harder than the workout itself. Do you guys take a mental reset when you’re feeling burned out, or just crank the music up and send it anyway? Curious what actually helps you get your head back in the game.
100%. If my head is cooked, I’m not forcing some hero workout. I’ll cut the volume down, get a good pump, and bounce. Sometimes that’s the best move.PoulRBX wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 8:48 pm Ever have days where your body is ready to move weight, but your head just isn’t in it?Sometimes the grind outside the gym hits harder than the workout itself. Bro, mental fatigue is real. You can be physically recovered but still feel completely smoked upstairs. I’ll usually take a few easier days instead of digging the hole deeper.
I used to just push through everything and honestly it made my training worse. Now if I’m mentally fried, I’ll back off for a bit. No shame in taking the foot off the gas.
Facts. Sometimes the best deload is getting out of the gym for a day or two, sleeping in, eating good and handling life. Come back ready to throw some iron around.
I don’t really schedule mental deloads, but I definitely listen when motivation is completely gone. If every session starts feeling like a chore, that’s usually my sign to reset.
For me it’s lowering the intensity, not necessarily skipping training. Light session, headphones on, chase a pump, no PR hunting. Keeps me moving without adding more stress.
Sometimes you gotta realize the grind doesn’t always mean going harder. A little reset can have you coming back hungry instead of dragging yourself through another half-assed workout.
100% agree. Life stress can wreck recovery just as much as a brutal training block. If work, sleep, and everything else are piling up, I’ll dial training back until my head clears.PoulRBX wrote: ↑Sun Aug 16, 2026 8:48 pm Ever have days where your body is ready to move weight, but your head just isn’t in it?Sometimes the grind outside the gym hits harder than the workout itself. I call it a “maintenance week”
Still hit the gym, but I’m not trying to destroy myself. Get some blood flowing, recover, and come back ready to cook.
