Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
I keep seeing guys argue about adding something extra at the start of a long run versus just letting things build naturally. Some say it helps mentally, others say it’s just extra strain for short-term results. Curious what people think these days worth it or not?
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
Front-loading can be a solid move if you're looking to push through those first few miles but it's not always necessary. If you’re mentally strong just let it build naturally. Extra strain upfront might give you a boost short-term but could tire you out faster. Depends on your goals brother!
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
I think a lot of it is mental. People like seeing something happen fast, even if it doesn’t really change the end result.
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
Older I get, the more I lean toward playing it slow. Early stress for short-term gains doesn’t sound that appealing anymore.

Seen guys hype it up, then complain later about feeling run down. Hard to say if it was worth it.
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
Motivation boost is real for some people. But once that fades, you’re still stuck doing the work either way.
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
I feel like the trend lately is less ‘blast everything early’ and more sustainability. At least from what I see online now.

Everyone reacts different, but long-term consistency usually beats quick starts. The basics still win.
Re: Front-Loading Gains - Smart Move or Unneeded Stress?
Social media probably makes it worse. Everyone wants fast visuals, not slow progress.

Appreciate the takes. Sounds like it’s more about mindset than real payoff long term. Leaning toward keeping things simple.
