I rely on a pre-workout for my afternoon sessions, but I suspect it's messing with my sleep, even if I fall asleep okay. Anyone find they had to cut it out completely to see real sleep gains?

Caffeine has a long half-life. I have a strict "no caffeine after 1 PM" rule. It was tough at first, but my sleep tracker (ironically, linking to the other topic!) showed a massive jump in deep sleep after a week.

I'm a slow metabolizer of caffeine, found out from a DNA test. One coffee at noon and I'm wired until midnight. I had to switch to non-stim pre-workouts. Sucks, but the recovery benefit is worth it.

L-Theanine is a good call. But I just switched to chicory root 'coffee' in the afternoon. Gives that hot drink ritual without the buzz. It's not the same, but my sleep is sorted.

The 1 PM cutoff seems to be the consensus. I'll give it a try. And will look into non-stim options. Cheers all.
