While there's less urgency than once thought, consuming protein and carbohydrates within a few hours before and after your workout is beneficial for recovery and muscle protein synthesis. The most important factor is hitting your daily caloric and macronutrient targets consistently. Don't stress too much about missing a narrow "window."
